Changes to the website

December 21, 2017

  • Mods get an email for every new user, take, and abuse notification
  • Mods get a daily summary of views, stars, and drafts
  • Fixed the “likes” dropdown (renamed to stars)
  • Account creation now requires accepting the TOS
  • Fixed draft titles with apostrophes
  • Made the login text less confusing

Known bugs that’ll be fixed soon

  • Sometimes can’t delete a draft
  • Hard to insert a video clip

December 24, 2017

  • Added “New Draft” button to list of drafts
  • Fixed draft deletion issue
  • Fixed some mobile styling issues

January 14, 2018

  • Can now email drafts and published takes to yourself, so that you can forward them to friends and colleagues.
  • As you select excerpts from the foundation, the URL will change. This is a permanent URL that we will commit to supporting forever.
  • When loading a saved draft, only the first paragraph of the block was being loaded. Now fixed.
  • Now easier to select text ranges of a video transcript.

February 21, 2018

  • Lots of improvements to the video timelines.

March 16, 2018

  • Redesigned the header and page navigation
  • Mock up of the foundation search feature
  • Several video improvements, especially a new, faster transcript format
  • New logo
  • Added favicons
  • You can now “follow” an author

March 18, 2018

  • Improved the login / account menu.

March 24, 2018

  • Updated all videos to point to our own youtube channel.
  • New videos now have future proof naming scheme “kind - last names alphabetic (1 of n)”
  • This means that all our old permalinks are broken, but nobody was using them anyway  From here on out, we’re maintaining backward compatibility, for realz.
  • We now have a bunch of new transcript tooling, but it requires reworking the transcripts we had. Even though some transcripts are gone now, they’ll automatically come back to the articles and permalinks once the new transcripts get merged back in.
  • We had an incorrect date on one debate. We had listed “Presidential Debate - Clinton, Trump (3 of 3)” as Oct 16 2016, but it was really Oct 19 2016.

March 27, 2018

  • Added full transcript (using new tooling) for the first Kennedy-Nixon debate.

April 10, 2018

  • The videos in the foundation are now searchable. Only the very first debate has transcripts for now - some interesting terms from that debate are “Soviet Union”, “farm”, and “social security”.

April 25, 2018

May 2, 2018

April 15, 2019

  • Several under-the-hood improvements
  • Now much easier to share a clip of a source - no need to write a take
  • Clips and screenshares should now embed nicely in facebook
